7 card stud poker is considered as pure form of poker game and has renowned history of its past existence. This game has a number of betting rules that are followed by players. Most commonly, players select to play fixed betting structure.

After shuffling the cards it is necessary that players need to place their ante, which is also considered as dead money and they are added to pots. The player to the left of the dealer begins playing the game and the action continues in the clockwise direction. Each player is first dealt with two cards (face down) and are termed as hole cards. After this they are dealt with single door card that is face up card. Any card that is face up is also termed as show card or exposed card.

In the game of 7 card stud poker, there is a factor which is considered as point of action. In this game bring is considered as point of action or the point where game starts. Any player who is having lower valued door card must ‘Bring in’.

  • Cards hold their face value and are designed as worst to best starting from J to K.
  • Ace is considered as high value card.
  • In case two players are holding same value card, then the suit determines the high value card.

Player who must ‘Bring’ certainly is offered with two options.

  1. Make bet equivalent to size of ante bet.
  2. Complete the bet equivalent to small blind.

Third Street (Betting round #1) – Here again the player has three options to follow:-

  • Fold – They throw their cards in muck without paying and wait for the next game to begin.
  • Call – Pay the amount that matches the Bring
  • Raise – They have an option for calling a raise that is equivalent to small bet size.

In this game each and every player gets a chance to play their turn and act. Players who don’t fold can move on to the next round.

Fourth Street (Betting Round # 2) – Players can play this round only if they don’t fold in the first round. They are dealt with single face up card. Value of show card decides the first player to act in this round. In this round if there are two cards showing then a pair of aces is considered as best hand. Any small combination is always worst to play. In this round suits rank are generally made use of for declaring the best hand. When playing this round every player can act. They are free to:-

Check (in case they have not placed any bet)

Call (they can match the bet that has been placed)

Raise (they can also bet small blind or anything that is higher than earlier bet placed).

Players also have an option to fold if they feel they just don’t have winning hand.

In the same pattern the dealer continues with the fifth and sixth betting round. Lastly the players are dealt with Final betting round or Seventh Street. Here the players are dealt with a single Face down card and the player with highest ranking card is declared as the winner of the round.

7 card stud poker Showdown:

In this round the players have to present their best combination of 5 card hand to claim for the pot.
